Once again the boys are the Champs of the Shultz Cup Klondike Derby.
Troop 450 Klondike Derby at Scout Haven
Friday- everybody follows one car about a half a mile past the lean-to and then we asked for directions. After we got to the bottom of the hill the lean-to was on, we unloaded the trailer by walking up a semi steep hill that was slippery. After we were almost done, I discovered some old stairs buried in snow. Then we put up tents and played until we went to bed.
Saturday-the SPL wakes up last. The parents start to set up their Klondike station. The younger kids help cook French toast and sausage for breakfast. Then we ate and went to the starting flag ceremony. They tell us to wait until nine to leave to our first station. Through the day we go through games like all aboard, bucket tossing, first aid and compass courses. A couple times we were timed to go from one station to the next. We ate packed lunches. We also had the big sled race at the end. Then at the end of the day we had hotdogs and roman noodles for dinner. After tearing down the tent, we packed it all into the trailer. Then the last thing of the day was the award ceremony. They handed out small places for first place winners. As the announcer was getting ready to announce the winner, everyone was wondering who it would be. Then he announced that Troop 450 Moose patrol won!!!!!!! We are the CHAMPS again. Then we went to our cars and left.

Troop 450’s Crossover at Scout Haven
Friday-once we got there, we all set our stuff on the bunks we chose. Then we decided to go sledding under the full moon. The boy scouts stopped sledding when they heard the cub scouts coming. Then they surprised the cub scouts when they got close enough. We all enjoyed sledding for an hour. Once we got back we relaxed until we went to bed at 10:30 pm.
Saturday-we all woke up at 7:30. We started to cook pancakes for breakfast. After breakfast we started and finished to set up the mini Klondike for the cub scouts. Once they arrived they rotated around five stations. At the end they had a sled race. Once the cub scouts left, we started to cook grilled cheese and tomato soup. After lunch we grabbed our shovels and leveled the yard for the crossover. Then we practiced the skit we were doing for the ceremony. When we finished we went inside to warm up.
Then we started to cut the ingredients to our foil broils and made a fire to cook them. Most of the foil broils took at least a half an hour to cook. Matthew Orgek’s was done first seeing that it was the smallest. Then we had brownies and doughnuts. Then we cleaned and got ready for the crossover.
The big roll people practiced some more for the skit. Then we put our costumes and face paint. Next the cub scouts arrived. We preformed the ceremony and it went well. After the ceremony we handed out certificates for the mini Klondike. Next we washed the dishes.
Then we went sledding and three cub scouts got hurt and had to come to the Boy Scout cabin to be checked out. At 10:30 everybody went to bed.
(Over the night the boy scouts attacked the cub scouts cabin and went in through the window and stole the Klondike trophy back. Later some Cub Scout leaders wrote you win in bug juice on the snow outside.)
Sunday-we all woke up at 7:30. Then we cooked breakfast. Finally we packed up and left.
